Robin Online: Assisting Blind People in Everyday Life
The Robin Online mobile application, developed by Sensor-Tech, is a valuable tool for blind individuals, providing assistance in various life situations. From locating desired products in stores to connecting with volunteers for help, this app offers a range of features to enhance the independence and safety of blind individuals.
With just a few taps, users can access video assistance from volunteers, identify nearby objects, recognize printed text, scan QR codes on products or business cards, identify banknotes, and send emergency messages to loved ones. To utilize all these functions, blind users must register and select the "Blind user" role.
Before getting started, it is important to ensure that the TalkBack function is enabled on your Android smartphone, as it may work differently on different devices. All the functions are conveniently located on the main screen of the application, with additional buttons for "Settings," "Profile," and "Training." The Training section provides helpful blocks for each function, which can be accessed at any time.
For individuals willing to assist the blind, the app offers the option to register as a "Volunteer." Volunteers can provide support in navigating physical spaces, locating lost items, and more.
Developed with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, Robin Online is a free application that empowers blind individuals and fosters a more inclusive society.
